Official Contest Rules for Purecane’s First Annual Sweet Revolution Bake Off


Purecane’s First Annual Sweet Revolution Bake Off Contest (the ”Contest” or “Promotion”) is sponsored by Amyris, Inc., 5885 Hollis Street, Suite 100, Emeryville, CA 94608 (“Sponsor”). The Contest is not sponsored, endorsed or administered by or associated with any social media, including Instagram, Facebook or Twitter.

The Contest begins on Thursday, April 2, 2020 at 12:00:00 a.m. Pacific Time (“PT”) and ends on July 31, 2020 at 11:59:59 p.m. PT (the “Promotion Period”). All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply. Void outside of the United States and/or wherever else prohibited or restricted by law. Immediately upon submission, all entries become the property of Sponsor and will neither be acknowledged nor returned other than as herein described.

By entering, each participant (the “Participant”) acknowledges acceptance of and compliance with these official rules (the “Official Rules”) and represents and warrants that Participant meets the eligibility requirements set forth herein and agrees to the Purecane Privacy Policy and the Terms of Use. In addition, Participant agrees to accept the decisions of Sponsor as final and binding as it relates to the Contest. Winning a prize is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements set forth herein.

Promotion is open to all legal residents of the fifty (50) United States except New York, Florida, Rhode Island and District of Columbia who are at least thirteen (13) years of age at time of entry who give permission to receive promotional email from and Amyris, Inc. Participants who are below the age of majority in their state of residence at the time of Entry must obtain parent or guardian permission to enter. (“Sponsor”) and do not withdraw such permission during the Contest Period. Employees of Sponsor and its affiliates, Sponsor’s advertising, promotion, judging and marketing agencies, and each of their respective employees (collectively, “Promotion Parties”), and their immediate family members (parent, child, sibling and spouse of each, regardless of where they reside) and those living in the same households of each (whether related or not) are not eligible.

After you give permission to receive promotional email from and Sponsor and your email has been accepted, you will receive an email to participate in the Contest at any time during the Promotion Period. The email will include a link to the Purecane contest submission portal, powered by Submittable. The email will also include a limited-time and restricted 30% discount code applicable to purchase of Purecane Baking Sweetener. On the contest portal, you will access the Official Rules, hints for winning and a voting gallery of recipe submission and videos. To enter the Contest go to _ and fill out completely the information requested in the online entry form in the English language, including your personal information and your original recipe in English language. in accordance with your submitted recipe (each an “Entry”, collectively, the “Entries”). Use of fraudulent methods or other attempts to circumvent the Official Rules will result in your entry being removed from eligibility in the sole discretion of Sponsor.

• Entrants are strongly encouraged but not required to include a video and/or photos with each submission.
• Submit a maximum of three (3) videos that document the highlights of your baking experience. Each video should be no longer than 60 seconds.
• Submit a maximum of two (2) photos: Before and After. The Before photo will show all of the ingredients including Purecane Baking Sweetener. The After photo will show you and/or your loved ones enjoying your final creation.
• Once we review all submissions, then we open to the public a Video, Photo and Recipe Gallery, where you and the public can vote on recipes without registering on Submittable site.

Entries that do not meet the criteria for the recipe described below will be disqualified. Entries must be the original content of the Participant. You cannot submit an Entry on someone’s behalf. Acceptance of Entry is not proof that Entry meets the Entry requirements set forth herein. Use of automated processes and devices to submit electronic Entries is not permitted.


A. Recipe Requirements:

1. Your original recipe must specify that Purecane Baking Sweetener is an ingredient and be in the English language. Recipes may not include regular granular sugar, brown sugar, confectioner’s sugar or alternative sweeteners.

2. In your Entry, you must include each recipe ingredient, exact measurements or weights, equipment with exact dimensions or sizes, and complete step-by-step preparation instructions.

3. Your original recipe – and it must be your recipe - cannot have been published in any form, including but not limited to publication in cookbooks, in magazines, on food blogs or on recipe websites unless the recipe features changes considered significant by the judges in their sole and absolute discretion. Modifying an existing recipe to add Purecane Baking Sweetener is considered a significant change and is acceptable.

B. Entry must be Participant’s original work. The Entry must not infringe the copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, or other intellectual property rights of any person or entity.

C. Entry must not contain any content or material that is lewd, obscene, sexually explicit, pornographic, disparaging, defamatory, libelous, violent, racist, derogatory of any ethnic, racial, gender, religious, professional or age group or otherwise inappropriate or objectionable, as determined by the Judges or Sponsor in their sole and absolute discretion. Entries violating this provision will be disqualified.

D. Entry must not contain any personally identifiable information of any person other than the Participant. Should Participant include personally identifiable information, Participant acknowledges and agrees that such information may be disclosed publicly, and Participant is solely responsible for the consequences thereof.

E. Sponsor reserves the right to promote the contest on social media channels – sharing videos, photos and recipes submitted. Submission serves as permission to use your Entry to promote the Contest. The Sponsor may actively poll voters on recipes as an additional input for judging criteria.

F. The Sponsor and judges reserve the right to disqualify at any time any Entry that they determine in their sole and absolute discretion does not meet the requirements of the Official Rules or is in appropriate for any reason.



A. A panel of judges, at Sponsor’s discretion, will review and evaluate all eligible Entries based on the following criteria weighing each criterion as outlined below (the “Score”):

1. Taste 60%
2. Appearance 30%
3. Gallery Votes 10%

B. Judges will be looking for:

1. Recipes that are bold, unexpected, joyful and yummy!
2. Videos that are brightly lit, in focus with clear audio.
3. Photos that are brightly lit, in focus with high resolution.

C. Score More with photos and videos. You are in a position to Score more if you:

• Submit a maximum of two (2) photos: Before and After. The Before photo will show all of the ingredients including Purecane Baking Sweetener. The After photo will show you and/or your loved ones enjoying your final creation.

• Submit a maximum of three (3) videos that document the highlights of your baking experience. Each video should be no longer than 60 seconds.
Any additional people included in photos will be included in the photos we feature on, and you will need to provide an adequate release for Sponsor’s use of images of the additional people included in the photograph. Your submission serves as permission for Sponsor to use these photos to promote the contest on all promotional channels for the contest and into perpetuity.

D. A Participant is eligible to win based solely on the Participant’s Entry with the highest Score. Subject to the foregoing, each of the three Participants with an Entry with one of the three highest Scores is a potential winner (“Potential Winner”). Potential Winners will be notified on or about June 12, 2020. All Potential Winners will be required to sign (i) an affidavit to certify that their Entry complies with all Contest requirements and these Official Rules, (ii) a confidentiality agreement, and (iii) a liability release, publicity release and assignment of rights, all of which must be delivered to Sponsor within two days. If a Potential Winner cannot be contacted or fails to execute and return the required documents within the required time period, is disqualified for any reason, fails or refuses to claim his or her prize for any reason, or is unable to participate for any reason, the prize will be forfeited and the Potential Winner will not be eligible for any prize. In such a case, the eligible Entry with the next highest Score will become the Potential Winner. Sponsor in its sole discretion may also choose not to replace any Potential Winner(s).

E. Winning Entries will be determined by Sponsor’s Judge(s) on or about August 15, 2020. Once Potential Winners are confirmed by Sponsor as official winners (“Winners”), Sponsor will provide Winners with further Contest procedures and policies, and all Winners agree to comply with such procedures.

Winning Entries will be notified and announced on August 30, 2020. Odds of winning depend upon the total number of eligible Entries received in the Promotion Period.
Winners will be notified by message to Participant’s email provided at the time of Contest entry within two (2) days of the judging panel’s determination date.

Three Winners – Prizes for the bakers of the Top 3 winning recipes. Each of three (3) Winners will be awarded the following:

o $3,000 cash
o $500 contribution donated to the Winner’s local Food Bank
o Receive a personalized video for you of a special, surprise celebrity baker making your original recipe!
o Your recipe will be featured on the website and on the purecane social media channels

The total value of each prize is approximately $3,000.

Total approximate value of all 3 prizes being offered is $9,000. Prizes consist solely of those items and benefits specifically listed, may not be transferred or redeemed for cash, and are subject to all terms and conditions of use as established by Sponsor. No substitutions are allowed except at the sole discretion of the Sponsor. All prizes will be awarded.

Sponsor reserves the right in their sole and absolute discretion to substitute a prize or prize component with a prize of equal or greater value. Prizes are non-transferable and may not be given, bartered, substituted, sold, or exchanged for cash or another prize. All prize details are at Sponsors’ sole discretion. Prizes are awarded “as is” with no warranty or guarantee, either express or implied. No transfer or substitution of any prize is allowed, except at the sole discretion of the Sponsor. Winners must comply with all Promotion rules as published. Return of prize notification as undeliverable; and/or failure to provide any other required documentation in a timely manner may result in disqualification and selection of an alternate Winner. Non-winning Participants will not be notified. Winning a prize is contingent on fulfilling all the requirements set forth herein. All taxes, if applicable, and all other costs associated with acceptance or use of the prize, not specified herein, are the sole responsibility of the Winner. Winner’s entry constitutes permission (except where prohibited by law) for the Sponsor to use Winner’s name, photograph, likeness, likeness captured in video, recipe and other submitted content, statements, biographical information, voice, and address (city and state) on a worldwide basis, and in all forms of media, in perpetuity, without notice or further compensation.

Promotion is subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws. By participating, Participants agree to be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of the Sponsor and waive any right to claim ambiguity in regard to the mechanics of the Contest or the interpretation of these Official Rules. Sponsor’s decisions are final on all matters relating to the Contest. Winners and Participants also agree to release, discharge, indemnify and hold harmless the Sponsor, Submittable Holdings, Inc. (“Submittable”), and Instagram, Facebook and Twitter, their respective affiliates and their respective directors, officers, employees and agents, from and against any claims, damages or liability due to any injuries, damages or losses to any person (including death) or property of any kind, resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from acceptance, possession, use or misuse of the prize offered, or participation in this Contest. Any person attempting to defraud or in any way tamper with the mechanics or logistics of this Contest will be declared ineligible and may be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Sponsor, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and Submittable are not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by website users or by any of the equipment or programming associated with, or utilized in, this Contest, or by any technical or human error that may occur in the processing and/or transmissions in the Contest. Sponsor assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries. Sponsor is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of email due to technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website or combination thereof, including injury or damage to Participant’s or to any other person’s computer related to, or resulting from, participating in or downloading of materials in this Promotion. If, for any reason, the Contest is not capable of running as planned, including, without limitation, infection by computer virus, bugs, worms, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the reasonable control of the Sponsor that may corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this Promotion, Sponsor reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Contest, and select winners from all entries received up to the time of termination. Any person attempting to defraud or in any way tamper with the mechanics or logistics of this Contest will be declared ineligible and may be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. This Contest is governed by the laws of the United States and the State of California, without respect to conflict of law doctrines. As a condition of participating in this Contest, Participant agrees that any and all disputes and causes of action against Sponsor arising out of or in connection with this Contest shall be resolved individually (without resort to any form of class action). Such dispute shall be resolved by mediation and binding arbitration. Arbitration shall be in accordance with the California Arbitration Act and held in Alameda County, California. The dispute will be resolved by a single arbitrator to be selected by the parties. Further, in any such dispute, under no circumstances will Participants be permitted to obtain awards for, and hereby waive all rights to claim punitive, incidental or consequential damages, including attorneys’ fees, and Participants further waive all rights to have damages multiplied or increased.

Winners names will be announced on the website, social media channels and other media. To receive written confirmation of the winners, mail a self-addressed stamped envelope to “Purecane’s First Annual Sweet Revolution Bake Off” Contest Winners List Request, Attention: Communications, Amyris, Inc., 5885 Hollis Street, Suite 100, Emeryville, CA 94608. Requests must be received by within seven (7) days of the close of the Promotional Period.

Personally identifiable information that is submitted by Participants as part of the Contest will be used to administer the Contest, select and announce the prize winners, fulfill the prizes, and used for promotional purposes.
